The trust in the Halaal certification program is founded upon adherence to the Qur'an and Sunnah, based on authentic Ahadith. Consequently, excellence, transparency, authenticity, intention, and technically sound procedures form the bedrock of the process. Canadian Regulatory Expertise

03

HTCC is fully integrated with Health Canada and CFIA with relation to meeting the parameters of Halaal and Food Safety matters. The Halaal Tayyib Certification Canada (HTCC) confides with a Halaal Islamic process of knowledge, auditing, inspection, and documentation by which a company ensures that their food can be eaten by Muslims and fellow humans who care about principles of Islam regarding the food consumption. The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), which came into force in 2019, contains animal welfare requirements that apply to all federally regulated slaughter activities, including Halaal ritual slaughter.

A person must not use, in labelling, packaging, advertising or selling a food, the word “halal” — or any letters of the Arabic alphabet or any other word, expression, depiction, sign, symbol, mark, device or other representation that indicates or that is likely to create an impression that the food is halal — unless the name of the person or body that certified the food as halal is indicated on the label or package or in the advertisement or sale. Halal claims for food sold in Canada are also subject to the labelling requirements of the FDA and the CPLA and their respective regulations. According to the Codex Alimentarius, the term "Halaal" means permitted under Islamic law.

The current federal government approach regarding ritual slaughter is that such claims are voluntary, but when used must be truthful and not misleading. Health Canada does not directly regulate Halaal certification, but it does require that any food product labeled as Halaal must have the name of the certifying body indicated on the label. This ensures consumer confidence and compliance with Islamic dietary laws. The Halaal Tayyib Certification Canada (HTCC) is one of the recognized certifying bodies in Canada, offering comprehensive Halaal certification services.
